A woman hitchhikes to work every day 1970s
The Donaghy family made annual holidays abroad possible through hard work and shared responsibility. Elisabeth Donaghy spent three months each year working in a factory to save for travel, which she saw as vital for her children’s development. With help from her husband and children—who also contributed by managing household chores and working in their spare time—the family balanced work and home life. Travel memories around the dinner table made the sacrifices worthwhile. (Broadcast on 25 October 1974.)
