CORK HOSPITAL ATTACK – PATIENT ASSAULTED WITH METAL BAR as Health Minister arrived for a visit August 25, 2025 Admin Politics </p> <p>IRELAND – A patient at a hospital in Cork was seriously injured in an assault on Sunday, just before the arrival of the Minister for Health for a scheduled visit.</p> <p>The assault took place outside Mercy University Hospital in Cork city at around 9.30am on Sunday. A patient, a man in his 50s, was attacked and then taken back into the hospital to be treated for his injuries. </p> <p>A man, also aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene.
