This report explored the harsh realities faced by seasonal Irish potato pickers working in Scotland, highlighting poor working and living conditions. Migrant workers shared stories of exploitation, mistreatment, and even claims of being held captive by contractors. Despite the difficult and dirty nature of the work, Irish labour remained highly sought after by Scottish farmers. The tradition of Irish seasonal migration for this work was long-standing, yet often came at a high human cost. (Broadcast on 25 June 1971.)
