The Dáil is back and so is Indo Politics for the first time in 2026! Tabitha Monahan is joined by Political Editor Mary Regan to look back on what was a busy first week of the year for those in Leinster House.
The controversy around AI tool Grok for generating sexualised imagery of women and children was brought up in the Dáil and Tabitha and Mary discuss the government’s response. Also covered is the Mercosur trade deal and it’s impact within the Fianna Fáil party. Government overspending was also on the agenda this week as the Public Accounts Committee heard about a significant overspend on a SUSI IT system as well as issues for the OPW as PAC heared of ‘nod and wink’ property arrangements.
