Alpine A390 Review: I can’t BELIEVE how GOOD this is!

The all-new Alpine A390 is here — and it might just be the first family EV that actually drives like a sports car. In this full review I test the 400hp GT and the 470hp GTS to see whether Alpine has really managed to blend A110 handling with everyday practicality… and honestly, it shocked me.

From the outside it already looks special: low, wide, with that incredible rear light bar and the “boost” button that hints at what the A390 can really do. But the bigger surprise is how it feels on the road. The steering is sharp, the grip is unreal, and the whole thing just pivots like a car half its size. This is not your normal SUV-ish EV.

Inside, practicality is genuinely decent with a proper boot, loads of rear space, and an interior that finally feels premium for the Alpine brand. But the price, the range, and the question of whether the GTS is worth it… that’s where things get interesting.

In this review I cover:
⚡ Power & performance: 400hp GT vs 470hp GTS
🛞 Handling: Why it feels like an A110 in disguise
🔌 Battery & range: Real-world expectations
💺 Interior: Quality, space & clever design
📦 Practicality: Boot, rear seats, storage
🏎️ Driving modes & boost: What the 10-second surge actually feels like
💶 Price & rivals: Model Y, Macan Electric, Lotus Eletre, Polestar 4

Alpine says this is the future of the brand — a daily EV that keeps the spirit of the A110 alive. After driving it, I think they might actually be right.
