Ireland is facing a major escalation as fuel protests bring Dublin to a standstill.
As of this morning, O Connell Street remains blocked, both sides of the quays are shut down, and public transport has been severely disrupted with no Dublin buses and no Luas running through the city centre.
Now, the situation has taken a serious turn. The government has called in the army to remove vehicles blocking critical infrastructure, issuing a warning that they will not be responsible for any damage.
Protesters say they want dialogue. They want to be heard. But critics are now asking why Taoiseach Micheal Martin has not stepped in to meet them and bring this to an end.
Instead, tensions are rising, and what began as protest is now moving toward confrontation.
Is this about to get worse
Or can it still be stopped
