A Sudanese man has been arrested for attempted murder after a knife attack, which left a man in a serious condition. As authorities call for calm – with concerns of disorder this evening – they’ve highlighted the bravery shown by members of the public.
The Sudanese suspect was on five-year refugee visa: The suspect is a Sudanese man in his 30s. Police are “not seeking anyone else”. The suspect made his way from Sudan to Paris at an unknown date, and from Paris he flew to Dublin, Northern Ireland’s police said. He then travelled from Dublin to Belfast by bus on 10 February 2023 and claimed asylum on that date, after which he was granted refugee status until 2028. There is no trace of this suspect on any national security databases, and he was not known to the PSNI.
