The Government has confirmed a significant and enhanced fuel support package is being finalised after a day of what they described as “constructive engagement” with stakeholders.
Protests over the cost of fuel are continuing for a fourth day with blockades in place at locations around Ireland. The Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that the blockades have caused a situation whereby Ireland is “on the precipice of turning oil away from the country” in the middle of. a global oil crisis.
Meanwhile, Fuels for Ireland said that 500 service stations across the country could be without fuel by tonight.
There are approximately 1,500 fuel stations nationwide.
