Doctors Silenced Over Nursing Home Deaths
A peaceful public assembly took place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 10, outside the offices of the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in Dublin. The gathering was held in solidarity with Dr. Marcus de Brun and other doctors currently facing disciplinary action by the IMC for expressing dissenting medical opinions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. de Brun, a former member of the Irish Medical Council, resigned in 2020 in protest over what he describes as widespread and preventable deaths in the Irish nursing home sector. He contends these tragedies were a direct result of government policies during the early stages of the pandemic. At the time, Ireland recorded one of the highest nursing home mortality rates in
the developed world.
Dr. de Brun, along with several colleagues, is now being prosecuted by the IMC for allegedly failing to promote official COVID-19 policies and vaccination campaigns. Supporters argue that the Council is being used to suppress legitimate medical dissent and to silence professionals who question the government’s pandemic narrative.
The June 10th assembly included speeches from Dr. de Brun and other medical professionals who have faced sanctions for raising concerns about Ireland’s public health policies. A petition in support of Dr. de Brun has garnered nearly 4,000 signatures within its first 24 hours and is

Dr. de Brun is affiliated with the Irish chapter of the International Medical Alliance (IMA), a global association of doctors committed to medical ethics and patient advocacy. The Irish IMA is also connected to both the NORTH Group and the World Council for Health-international networks of doctors, lawyers, and advocates working to support victims and pursue
accountability for harms caused during the COVID-19 response.
Dr. de Brun is calling for a full, transparent, and independent public inquiry into Ireland’s COVID-19 policies and the deaths that occurred in the nursing home sector.
