Enoch Burke has returned to Wilson’s Hospital School today, less than 24 hours after being released from Mountjoy Prison. This comes despite a High Court warning that he could be re-imprisoned if he attends the Co Westmeath school.
Mr Burke was freed to allow him prepare a legal challenge against an appeals body reviewing his dismissal, with the court making clear the decision was based on the understanding that he would not return to the school.
However, Mr Burke repeatedly told the court – and later said outside the prison – that he intended to attend his workplace. He told reporters yesterday: “This is a travesty now today. He (the judge) knows well where I will be tomorrow.”
A High Court judge warned the school could return to court immediately if Mr Burke breaches the injunction barring him from the premises.
Mr Burke arrived at the school shortly after 9.15am after being dropped off at the top of the road. Gardai have also arrived at the school.
Our reporter is at Wilson’s Hospital School this morning as events unfold.
