GAA legend Jim Gavin faces biggest challenge yet in race for the Áras
Six years ago his weekend, Jim Gavin achieved GAA’s holy grail.
Never before had a manager in football or hurling led a senior county to five consecutive All-Ireland titles, but Gavin managed that when Dublin beat Kerry in a replay.
In all, he led the Dubs to six All-Irelands in his seven seasons in charge, cementing his status as a legend of the game.
Now, the 54-year-old from Clondalkin is facing his biggest challenge yet. The bookies have him as red hot favourite to become our next president, but Gavin will know that since 1990, few of the favourites have ended up in the Aras.
