The tragic death of 16-year-old Grace Lynch by a scrambler crash on Sunday was raised in the Dáil this afternoon by Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald. The Dublin Central TD criticised the government for failing to listen to working class areas such as Finglas, Ballyfermot and Clondalkin on the “scourge” of scramblers and quad bikes in their communities. McDonald stated that it “was only a matter of time” before somebody was killed and now “her name is Grace Lynch.”
Responding, Taoiseach Micheál Martin vowed to take scramblers of public roads in Ireland and pointed to previous legislation brought in in recent years.
