How did Micheal Martin rebuild Ireland’s party of power?

Ireland’s Taoiseach Micheal Martin has led Fianna Fail for the past 14 years, rebuilding the party after a disastrous economic situation that required a bailout from the IMF.

His government is now running a budget surplus with an economy largely built around big pharma and tech but with Trump’s tariffs, a housing crisis and thousands of Ukrainians moving to Ireland, there are plenty of issues to tackle.

How is the Cork-born leader managing the country’s issues and why did his party Fianna Fail, once Ireland’s political powerhouse, have to form a coalition with its biggest rival Fine Gael?
