Iconic Christy Bird furniture store in Dublin to close its doors after 80 years in Portobello

The landmark story in Portobello was set up to offer affordable furniture to Dubliners in the 1940s, but in the age of internet shopping and ‘single use’, flatpack furniture, current landlord Christy Bird Flanagan has said, the time has come to close the doors of the store.
