Independent Ireland’s “No To Mercosur Protest” In Athlone was about Food Security – Food Supply- Food Quality – Standards of Irish Food and Irish and European’s Health. The health of the people of Ireland and future generations to come.

It was not a farmer’s Protest, it was the people of Ireland’s protest demanding our MEP’s stop the Ursula von der Leyen’s Mercosur Trade Deal togo through the European Parliament

food producers, small local businesses, along with the people of Ireland to Athlone in County West Meath, united in one messgae, “No To Mercosur”

Irish political Roundup go behind the scenes during the start of Independent Ireland’s No To Mercosur Protest in Athlone – which was attended by an astonishing 30 thousand people in total.

The No To Mercosur Protest was organised within ten days – events like this would normanly take a year to plan and prepare. The protest brought in total 30 thousand people to Athlone.
The people of Athlone gave their full support to the protest and the peaceful family protest of the people passed off without any incidents taking place.

The No To Mercosur Protest was about Health of the people of Ireland and within europe, Food Security, The Quality and standards of Irish Food produced here in Ireland, which is the best in the world. With grass fed animals. It was not a farmers protest as many of the main stream media platforms reported on their news bulletins.

Farmers are however, indeed our guardians of our land and our food security, food source!.
The people of Ireland want to protect our own food supply. The Mercosur Trade Deal will efectively affect our own farm to fork farming food suppy industry here in Ireland that are left.

We have seen in recently years with the covid plandemic, the wars in middle east Ukraine and Russia. If more wars are created, Ireland need the capacity to have food security to feed the people of Ireland.
The Mercursur Trade Deal allowing cheap unregulated food unhealthy food into Ireland will effectlively stop the food producing here in Ireland.
Irish people want our own food to be produced and grown and sourced by local Irish farmers here in Ireland for our own food security with high quality foods rich in nutrients for our health and wellbeing.

The protest brought farmers, tractors, farming families, extended famliies, people from rural communities, villages and towns from all corners of Ireland. People from Cities and urban areas.

The protest brought people from all social and economic backgrounds. With the clear concise message of clarity, the people of Ireland say No To The Mercosur Deal. We want safe food, We want to support our Irish farmers who are indeed our guardians of our land and our food, therefore our health and wellbeing.

Irish people do not want Brazilian Beef imported into Ireland or on our supermarket shelves as it has been proven that Brazilan beef has antibiotics in it that is a danger to people’s health.

Independent Ireland an relatively new political party, which was formed in 2023, by Cork Deputy Michael Collins and Limerick’s Deputy Richard O’ Donoghue.
Independent Ireland may be a newly established party. However, it has a wealth of experienced political representatives who have been long-established elected TDs and local county councillors who took the leap of faith from other political parties to join Independent Ireland.
