Ireland’s foreign minister said discussions between the United States and Ukrainian officials in Geneva were “extremely positive” but stressed that Europe must be directly involved in any future agreement. She said the EU must approve any deal concerning Ukraine and warned that no settlement can include territorial concessions made under force. The minister added that Europe’s security depends on Ukraine’s position and said the issue will be raised again at the upcoming EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
