Ireland must be independent of EU rule in order to prosper – Hermann Kelly
🇮🇪 It’s Time for Ireland to Reclaim Its Sovereignty — Leave the EU For too long, Ireland has been shackled to a bureaucratic and unaccountable European Union that no longer serves our people’s best interests. Decisions that impact our farmers, our fisheries, our economy, and our culture are increasingly made in Brussels — not in Dublin. We’ve given up control of vital policies in exchange for false promises of stability, only to face rising costs, erosion of neutrality, and the slow dismantling of our national identity. We are a proud, capable nation. We don’t need to be ruled by distant elites who don’t understand our values, our needs, or our vision for the future. The EU has become a toxic alliance — one that demands conformity and punishes independence. Leaving the EU isn’t a step backwards. It’s a leap forward — toward real sovereignty, true democratic accountability, and a future where Irish decisions are made by the Irish people. ……… In 2024, Ireland’s exports were roughly split with 32% going to the US and 38% going to the EU. The US is the largest single-country destination for Irish exports, while the EU is the largest overall market. US: In 2024, Ireland exported €72.6 billion worth of goods to the United States, representing 32% of its total goods exports, according to the Oireachtas Data API. EU: The EU accounted for €88.5 billion of Irish goods exports in 2024, according to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. This represents a significant portion, with a 9% increase compared to 2023. Other Markets: While the US and EU are the primary destinations, Ireland also exports goods to other countries, including China, which is a major non-EU trading partner. Growth: Irish exports to the US have seen substantial growth in recent years, according to the Oireachtas Data API. For example, in 2024, exports to the US were 3.5 times higher than in 2014.
