IRELAND – “Slovakian” jailed for brutal assault on Irish woman previously involved in murder case

A Slovakian man who launched an unprovoked attack on a defenceless woman in a public park, previously disposed of a knife which was used in the murder of a man. But he was not prosecuted on the weapons charge because he gave evidence against the murderer as a state witness. Michal Godla (35), of Annaly Court, Longford town, is beginning a jail term of three years and three months after being convicted of what Judge Kenneth Connolly branded an “utterly terrifying, numbing and chilling” assault on a woman at The Mall, Longford town, on August 7, 2023.
