Ireland is facing a deepening homelessness crisis in 2026.
Over 17,000 people are now officially recorded as homeless, the highest figure in the history of the State. This includes thousands of children living in emergency accommodation such as hotels and temporary shelters. Rising rents, record property prices, housing supply shortages, and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis have intensified pressure on families and individuals across the country.
