‘It’s the old Dublin spirit’ – Henry Street Christmas market traders embrace the festive period

It’s that time of year again, when you can’t make it past the Spire without hearing the familiar chants of the Henry Street Christmas traders, signalling the true start of the festive season in Dublin.

The city’s oldest Christmas market has returned this year, with a visit to its bustling stalls a beloved tradition for generations of Dubs, as well as visitors from outside the capital.

While traders admit the annual market, Dublin’s oldest, is a dying tradition, they’re determined to keep the old spirit alive.

‘People need a lift and the Henry Street Christmas markets are part of that – they come to get into the festive spirit’
