A landlord who tried to charge a tenant extra money for use of a fridge, dining table and overnight stays by his girlfriend has issued judicial review proceedings after the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) awarded €7,000 against her.
Gabriela Hennigan and her husband Michael Hennigan rented a room in a house in Clonsilla, Dublin 15, to a French student attending Maynooth University between September 2023 and April 2024.
Their daughter was also living there and the remaining bedrooms were being used by Airbnb guests. The house had five bedrooms in total including a single box room, a double room, a double en suite, an attic room and a living room that was converted into a bedroom.
