Sky News contributor Sophie Elsworth says new Ireland President Catherine Connolly is “extremely left wing” and “very left wing in her views”.
“She won this presidential election easily with more than 60 per cent of the vote,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“She won’t have much involvement in the day-to-day politics in Ireland.
“The result is very interesting given that Labour had this position for more than a decade.”
