Medjugorje has been desecrated.
An outdoor altar was deliberately set ablaze, statues of the Virgin Mary were blackened, and the words “Devil in a skirt” were daubed across one of Christianity’s best-known pilgrimage sites.
But this is about far more than one shrine.
Across Europe, churches are being vandalised, statues smashed and Christian sites targeted by arson. OIDAC Europe recorded 2,211 anti-Christian hate crimes during 2024, including 94 arson attacks on churches and other Christian sites.
Yet when Christianity is attacked, Western institutions so often dismiss it as isolated vandalism or criminal damage. When a mosque is attacked, the media immediately examines the wider climate, the hatred and the threat to an entire community.
This video asks an uncomfortable question: why is Islam treated as a living faith whose followers and sacred places must be protected, while Christianity is increasingly treated as an embarrassing relic from Europe’s past?
You do not need to believe in the apparitions at Medjugorje—or even attend church—to recognise deliberate desecration when you see it.
