Moya Brennan, the “First Lady of Celtic music,” was honoured at a deeply emotional funeral in Donegal, Ireland, following her peaceful passing at 73. The Clannad star left behind a lasting legacy that shaped Celtic music worldwide.
Her funeral drew family, friends, fans, and major figures including members of U2, Daniel O’Donnell, and Andrea Corr. Held at St Patrick’s Church in Gweedore, the ceremony reflected her strong roots in the local community.
A moving guard of honour, personal tributes, and her song Peacemakers created a powerful farewell. Parish priest Brian O Fearraig described her passing as a moment of “sacred silence,” marking the loss of a true musical icon.
