‘Nobody has a right to appoint themselves as the voice of the people’ – Taoiseach | Newstalk

‘‘We are implementing significant action, that goes beyond anything being done elsewhere, and the core concern pushing up oil prices is an international conflict.’

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has defended the Governments response to the protests over rising fuel costs during today’s motion of confidence debate.

The Government has won a motion of confidence in the Dáil by 92 votes to 78.

But it lost two members of the coalition in the process.

Michael Healy Rae resigned his position as Junior Minister for Forestry while his brother Danny has also pulled support.
