Not My President A Vote Of No Confidence In A Rigged Democracy

By D Collins Irish Channel

Ireland is standing at a crossroads. In the coming presidential election, we the people the electorate have the rare chance to send a clear message: we do not consent to the political theatre being played before us. We do not accept the erosion of democracy, the manipulation of truth, or the silencing of dissent.

Last year, over one million Irish citizens two-thirds of voters rejected the government’s proposed constitutional change. The people spoke with clarity, and they were ignored. Now, in the upcoming presidential race, we’re witnessing the same arrogance on full display: political control disguised as democracy.

Independent voices have been deliberately silenced. Candidates like Maria Steen who represented a genuine alternative were systematically blocked from even appearing on the ballot. Councillors who dared to nominate her were warned, threatened, and publicly disciplined. What we now face is not an election; it’s a carefully curated performance by a political cartel masquerading as choice.

This is not democracy. It’s control.

The People’s Discontent

Across Ireland, frustration is boiling over. It’s not just about politics it’s about survival.

Housing: Young families are priced out, renters suffocated by spiralling costs, while government funds flow into temporary accommodation for asylum seekers without background checks or paperwork.

Homelessness: Record figures shame a wealthy nation, yet luxury housing projects sit idle under “strategic development” schemes that serve developers, not citizens.

Health: Waiting lists grow longer, A&E departments burst at the seams, and the elderly queue for care that never comes all while billions are wasted on the spiralling costs of the National Children’s Hospital.

Emergency Services: Ambulances go understaffed, Garda numbers fall, the Defence Forces are hollowed out, and prisons overflow. Those sworn to protect us are being abandoned.

Freedom of Speech: Ordinary citizens teachers, nurses, veterans, and parents are being smeared as “far right” simply for questioning immigration, government waste, or educational overreach.

This is not progress. It’s decay.

A Government of Withheld Truths

The Irish people have been lied to.
Crucial information is routinely withheld before referenda and elections — from EU migration compacts to green energy obligations and international funding commitments. When confronted, ministers shrug and move on. There is no accountability, no apology, and no truth.

The same political class that cuts funding for emergency services now finds billions for IPAS (the International Protection Accommodation Service), while telling the taxpayer there is “no money” for Garda overtime or Defence Forces housing. They call it compassion; most Irish people call it corruption.

And now, in one of the most shocking moves of all, the government quietly plans to repurpose the General Post Office the heart of the 1916 Rising into a “heritage space” stripped of its national symbolism. The GPO, once a symbol of Irish independence, is being sold off piece by piece.

Spoil the Vote A Peaceful Act of Rebellion

When Declan Ganley spoke recently on Counterpoint, he put it plainly: “What happened was an affront to Irish democracy a crossing of the Rubicon.”

He’s right. The time has come for citizens to act peacefully, democratically, and unmistakably.

Go to the polling station. Take your ballot. And if you believe no candidate represents you spoil it.
Write “NOT MY PRESIDENT.”
Write “NO CONFIDENCE.”
Write “NONE OF THE ABOVE.”

Each spoiled ballot must be counted by law. Each one is a democratic act a statement that cannot be ignored. A tidal wave of spoiled votes will send a message louder than any speech: that Ireland’s people see through the illusion of choice.

A Silent Majority No Longer
The establishment the government, the media, and their NGO echo chamber will tell you spoiling your vote is undemocratic. They will call you “far right,” “anti-government,” or “ignorant.” They will sneer and mock.
Ignore them.
Spoiling your vote in protest is the essence of democracy the right to say no when offered only lies. It is a right earned through blood and sacrifice by generations who fought for an Ireland free from tyranny and foreign control.
The political class has grown comfortable too comfortable. They fear apathy less than they fear engagement. They fear your pen.
So use it.

Time to Take Back Ireland

This election is more than a vote for President. It is a referendum on the honesty of Irish politics itself.
A spoiled vote is not wasted. It is a declaration that Ireland belongs to its people not to global agendas, not to political elites, and not to a media that has forgotten its duty to truth.
We can no longer allow a government that funds everyone but its own, shelters strangers but neglects veterans, builds for NGOs but not for nurses, and dares to call dissent “hate.”
Stand up. Speak through your ballot.
Let your vote or your spoiled ballot say it clearly:
Not my president. Not my government. Not anymore.
