In 1940, Nazi Germany had conquered Western Europe. Although neutral in the conflict, Ireland faced a terrifying question: could it be next?
Indeed, in Berlin, German military planners had developed Operation Green – their invasion plan for Ireland. This video explores that plan and visits the beaches where the Germans would have landed. It also reveals Plan W, the Irish Army’s defensive strategy, and explores the remains of Irish coastal defences.
