Sport climbing in Ireland

The word “adventurous” isn’t usually associated with sport climbing, but it will be when you visit Wicklow Head! Sport climbing in Ireland is not exactly well known, but there are a growing number of bolted crags popping up all over, from Inis Mor in the Arran islands to this absolutely incredible sea cliff crag in Wicklow Head 50mins south of Dublin. This crag only has 3 bolted lines, a 7b+ and 8a+, as well as an 8c+ open project!

With the crashing waves of the irish sea below the hanging belay on a small sloping ledge, the exposure feels immense! Certainly not your average roadside crag, but it’s not more than 2minutes from a main road making it a very accessible crag for Dubliners!
