The farmer and part time inventor 1977

Joe Ryan, a Clare-based inventor, transitioned from making candle holders to creating practical machinery for local farmers, including a mobile milking machine powered by a tractor. His inventions addressed real needs in rural communities, helping small farmers and generating employment in an area with limited job opportunities. With support from development agencies, Joe’s business grew rapidly, and he was developing a new turf-cutting machine to boost local fuel supply. Broadcast on 6 February 1977.
