“This is a travesty,” Enoch Burke released from Mountjoy Prison

A High Court judge has freed Enoch Burke from Mountjoy Prison even though the schoolteacher has not purged his contempt.

Mr Justice Brian Cregan said he was making the order in the interests of justice to allow Mr Burke adequately prepare for a legal challenge he has brought against the appeals body that is considering whether Wilson’s Hospital School was correct to sack him.

The decision prompted an extraordinary series of exchanges between Mr Burke and the judge, even by the standards of what has already been seen during the long-running case.
