“Tipping Point That Boiled Over This Week” | Violent Protests Erupt Outside Dublin Asylum Hotel

Three Irish police officers were injured and 24 people arrested in a second night of riots outside a Dublin hotel housing asylum seekers.

Violence erupted after protests over an alleged sexual assault nearby turned violent. Fireworks, bottles, and stones were thrown at officers, with one struck in the head.

Police said 17 adults face public order charges, while five juveniles were released under the Youth Diversion Programme.

The unrest follows Tuesday night’s rioting, when a police van was set on fire and attacks were allegedly coordinated online.

The Citywest Hotel, housing families under Ireland’s asylum protection programme, remains under heavy police guard.
