Tractor safety changes 1977

A new regulation made roll bars mandatory on tractors to improve farm safety. From 1 September 1977, it became an offence to drive a tractor in a public place without a safety frame, with heavy penalties for non-compliance. The measure aimed to prevent fatalities caused by tractor overturns, which often resulted in drivers being crushed. Safety cabs were introduced to significantly reduce these risks. (Broadcast on 31 August 1977.)
