Rep. Jasmine Crockett sharply criticizes the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies during a congressional hearing.
Crockett cites what she describes as an increase in deaths of detainees in ICE custody, saying that more detainees died during Trump’s first month in office than at any point since fiscal year 2020.
She also argues that the administration is dismantling DHS oversight offices and alleges that the Justice Department is being used to intimidate lawmakers conducting detention-facility oversight.
Crockett further presents video of ICE enforcement tactics that she characterizes as “out of control.”
The claims and characterizations in this video reflect Crockett’s statements during the hearing.
