Why Is the National Children’s Hospital Still Not Open?

More than two months after the latest completion deadline passed, there is still no opening date for the National Children’s Hospital.

Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill joins Monday with Gavan Reilly to discuss why the project remains unfinished, her concerns about staffing levels on site, and why she says she repeatedly asked BAM to show her the workforce it said was on the project.

The discussion also covers consultant contracts, plans to extend healthcare services beyond traditional office hours, and wider challenges facing Ireland’s health system.

Later, our panel of Fionnán Sheahan, Jack Horgan-Jones and Priscilla Lynch analyse the Minister’s approach and ask whether she is taking on responsibilities that should sit elsewhere.
