Support for Sinn Fein fell dramatically while the socialist left in the Dail was reduced to a tiny rump. Instead of the Left in power we have one of the most right-wing governments in the history of the state being propped up by a grouping of the most toxic TDs in the Dail.</p> <p>This should be cause for reflection and reassessment. Indications (such as the recent statement from the Red Network on the future of PbP) that this is starting are to be welcomed. This discussion is intended to make a contribution to that process. It addresses a number of critical issues.
