‘Come Home’: Ireland Opposition Leader’s plea to Irish-Australian Tradies

Irish Tradespeople Living in Australia

reland’s Opposition Leader Mary Lou McDonald has called on any Irish tradespeople living in Australia who want to come home to do so as the Emerald Isle is “going to need them”.

Ms McDonald, the President of the Provisional IRA’s political arm, Sinn Fein, addressed the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday to “speak directly” to young, working Irish.

“We need to build our houses, build our services,” Ms McDonald told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Ditto here in Australia – so I guess there’s a bit of a trading war for the tradies for these incredible skillsets.”
