Coronavirus: Irish appeal for Native American after famine kindness gives back $1m

IRISH DONATIONS to the Navajo and Hopi Native American communities during the Covid-19 pandemic

The Choctaw community sent $170 to Ireland during a famine in the 18th century and now generation COVID has paid it back in an appeal that has raised one million dollars. Nearly 27,000 Irish people have donated online and dozens more by post.

With limited healthcare, food supplies and clean water, the Navaho and Hopi communities had been facing a humanitarian crisis.
