Honoring Chuck Feeney and Atlantic Philanthropies’ Commitment to Improving the World

Chuck Feeney achieves his goal of giving away his wealth to good causes during his lifetime

September 14, 2020 marked the official closing of the Atlantic Philanthropies, established in 1982 by Chuck Feeney – who is also the founder of General Atlantic. Chuck’s vision was to give away his accumulated wealth entirely in his lifetime to address urgent societal challenges and opportunities, donating $8 billion to charities, universities, and foundations around the globe over the past several decades. Members of the General Atlantic leadership team, including Chairman Steve Denning, share their thoughts on how Chuck’s astounding objective became a remarkable accomplishment.

Some $1.3bn was given in grants to various projects in Ireland.
