Reforming the TV Licence Fee Instead of RTÉ?

Plans to reform the TV Licence Fee here in Ireland

Today I take a look at the plans to reform the TV Licence Fee here in Ireland, in the wake of the RTÉ and Ryan Tubridy payments scandal. Instead of actually reforming the entity that caused the wasted of public money, ie RTÉ, the government seem happy to finally plough ahead with the reforms that RTÉ have long wanted. The reforms will see the licence fee being collected via Revenue as a “broadcasting charge”. An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar,
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform of Ireland Paschal Donohoe, and
Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media of Ireland
Catherine Martin all seem to be on board with the idea, so will the tone-deaf tax go ahead?
