Resisting Ideology with Barrister, Journalist and founder of The Countess – Laoise De Brún

Resisting Ideology

The Countess Conference: Exploring the impact of gender ideology on Irish society across legislation, policy, education, culture, and sport.

This afternoon I chat with barrister Laoise De Brún, founder of The Countess, ahead of the The Countess conference taking place this coming Saturday in the RTE concert hall in Dublin. This conference has faced many challenges in the run-up to Saturday’s event and I’ll be chatting to Laoise about some of these aspect the course of conversation as well getting into the speaker line ups and rationale for holding the conference..

The Countess is a non-profit, volunteer-led organisation formed to promote and protect the rights and interests of women and children in Ireland. The name derives from Countess Constance Georgine Markiewicz who, as Minister for Labour in the First Dáil, was the first female cabinet minister in all of Europe.
