‘We wanted to do our bit’ – businessman covers €20k cost of homeowners’ solar panel installations

A businessman who almost lost everything in the crash, organised for €20,000 worth of solar panel installations to be finished, after a company went bust, leaving homeowners out of pocket.

Ronan Dolan, director of Alternative Energy.ie, read the Irish Independent’s story in January detailing how countless homeowners had lost thousands of euro on solar panels when SolarShare Limited went into liquidation.

Mr Dolan said the article ignited a desire in him “to give back, to do a good deed” and he spoke to his co-director Tyrone Carlin and both men set about contacting suppliers to pool resources, to help the homeowners.

The altruistic business agreement has seen two homeowners getting €20,000 of work carried out for free, after they lost their money to pay for solar panels, when SolarShare Limited went bust.
